Main entrance on U St. NW across from the metro.

One day, a colleague of mine discussed an app called ClassPass with me. On ClassPass people can find exercise classes near them. This colleague mentioned a barre class, an exercise class which combines some ballet techniques with other anaerobic moves, close to where we work. I had maxed out my Groupon classes from PureBarre and decided to join her one day. The studio is conveniently located directly across from the U St. metro stop in D.C.

Advertisement usually located outside the studio.

The sign above is usually placed outside the entrance. The new client price sounds cool, but I didn’t inquire about it once I got in. I ascended up the three short flights of stairs necessary before passing the threshold.

Flight number one from the entrance.
Flight number two from the entrance.
Sign right before the the ascent of the third and final flight of stairs.

Honestly, the three flights of stairs is nothing. But, I appreciate the optimism and encouragement from the picture above. Also, not sure if it was intentional, but their logo looks like a target. So, if you really think about it their logo serves as a reminder for each patron whose target is to build a leaner body.

Welcome mat and confidence boost.

After the mini walk up work-out, each patron is greeted by the welcome mat above. How sweet đŸ™‚

Threshold.

Finally, we arrive at the entrance. Clean, bright, and organized. Since I have self diagnosed social phobia–shout out to WebMD, if you notice all my pictures are lacking people because I take shots when nobody’s around–there aren’t pictures of the workout rooms where the people are. My apologies if you were really looking forward to looking at the workout space. In any event, directly across from the workout desk is a refrigerator where people can pick up their meal prepped foods from some company (it’s not BlueApron or Hello Fresh, but something like that). There are also a few racks with clothes and accessories for people to buy merch. The studio itself has two rooms. One for cycling and the other for their barre and yoga classes.

Showers with body wash, soap, and conditioner.

I’m kind of a germaphobe, but I approve of the shower situation at this studio. My house had a hot water problem one day, so I showered at the studio right after my class. I brought my own Almond Blossom 24-Hr Moisture Super Smooth Body Lotion and Shower Gel, courtesy of Bath and Body Works, with me. But, that’s because even though I knew the studio had showers I automatically assumed they wouldn’t have lotion or shower gel. I was wrong.

Blowdryer, cotton swabs, and a towel rack.

On this particular occasion I did not wash my hair, but if I did there was a blow dryer ready for me. Pretty clutch.

Brownie points for the Suave brand body lotion on top of the cabinet!

Peep the lotion on top of the shelf. I almost missed it when I was dressing up, but it was totally there and studio provided. There was also a towel rack by the door with a white towel hanging on it. I brought my own towels, and will continue to do so because like I said–germaphobe. The towels were super white and clean though. I just like using my own things.

Have you ever gone to a barre class, or showered at a gym/studio? Post a comment below. I’d love to hear your story.
